Do you dream of walking out into your garden and cutting a fresh bunch of flowers for your table? Or gathering a few stems to gift to a friend? Do you want to learn how to have flowers throughout the growing season, and not just for a few months of the year? This workshop is for you!
Join farmer-florist Marisa Mender-Franklin for this three part workshop, where you'll learn how to plan a garden that will produce balanced bouquets from April through October. The workshops are sold individually or as a set of 3, to give you the most control over your experience. The 3 class pass includes a seed kit with 10 packets of cut flower seeds that blend well together and are easy to grow. This seed kit has a $50 value.
Workshop 1: Planning a Cutting Garden. During this 2 hour workshop, we will cover site selection, plant selection, timing, spacing, and all of the factors we consider when deciding whether to include a particular plant in our garden plan. You will also receive a guide of our favorite cut flower varieties and seed sources.
Workshop 2: Getting Things Started. During this 2 hour workshop, we will discuss how to prepare your garden beds, soil tests and amendments, seed starting, succession planting, and weed suppression. You will receive a detailed guide that you can reference as you work in your garden this year.
Workshop 3: Keeping Things Happy. During this workshop, we will discuss easy irrigation options, pest and disease management, fertilizers, compost and how to care for the garden at the end of the season. In addition to the detailed guide that you'll receive, you will also have access to Marisa to ask gardening questions as they come up during the season.
Workshop space is very limited and, as a result, we do not offer refunds. If you do need to miss a workshop, we will gladly work with you to get you the materials you missed, or, when possible, offer you a seat at the next workshop.
For Brews and Blooms, the workshops are condensed to 90 minutes due to brewery hours but you will receive a beverage ticket at each workshop.
