Do you dream of walking out into your garden and cutting a fresh bunch of flowers for your table? Or gathering a few stems to gift to a friend? Do you want to learn how to have flowers throughout the growing season, and not just for a few months of the year? This workshop is for you!
Join farmer-florist Marisa Mender-Franklin for this three part series, where you'll learn how to plan a garden that will produce balanced bouquets from April through October.
Part 1: Planning a Cutting Garden. During this 90 minute workshop, we will cover site selection, plant selection, timing, spacing, and all of the factors we consider when deciding whether to include a particular plant in our garden plan. At this class, you'll receive a copy of our 20 page guidebook, tailored to our area as well as a custom square foot gardening planning tool.
Part 2: Seed Starting 101. During this 90 minute workshop you'll learn the basics of starting seeds indoors. We'll cover everything from what soil and materials you'll need to how to keep your seedlings happy. At this class, you'll receive five seed packets of some our favorite cut flower varieties.
Part 3: Building Your Garden from the Ground Up. During this 90 minute workshop, we will discuss how to prepare your garden beds, soil tests and amendments and weed suppression. During this class, you'll receive a gift set containing three of our favorite garden tools/goodies.
