Meet the Farmer
Hi! I'm Marisa Mender-Franklin, the farmer and florist behind Midtown Bramble & Bloom! I'm pretty sure my love for flowers is genetic. I come from a long line of gardeners and have been working in the garden since I was old enough to help my grandmother with weeding. My grandfather was known for growing giant dahlias and I think of him every year when I plan my own dahlia patch. I have been tending my own plants for over a decade and even grew the flowers for my own wedding!
In January of 2021, I launched Midtown Bramble & Bloom, an urban, micro flower farm in Midtown, Memphis. The farm is made up of nine different plots that are tucked away in the backyards of some of your Midtown neighbors. Midtown Bramble is very much a community farm. We are committed to paying our employees a living wage, donating part of our proceeds to organizations doing important work in Memphis, and using regenerative farming practices.
Before I started the farm, I was a teacher and school administrator for 12 years in Memphis and Mississippi schools. I loved my students and loved being part of a school community. I believe that the farm can be a tool for building community, spreading love and creating space for learning.
Whether you sign up for a bouquet subscription, purchase a piece of art from the farm, order flowers for your special event or attend one of our workshops or bouquet bars, I hope that Midtown Bramble & Bloom brings a little joy to your home this season!
